Munich- starring Eric Bana - director Steven Spielberg

Munich

Usually I wait a few days before I write my reviews, I feel like I get a better perspective that way. But seeing as the Academy Awards are just over 48 hours away, I can't wait! I saw this movie yesterday afternoon if the only theatre still showing it. Lucky me since it's not out on DVD yet.

I thought it was a pretty good movie, but as almost every movie clocking in over 2 hours, it dragged at the end. When it comes to political movies, I'm not very good at following them. I think Speilberg did a good job of making the movie easy to follow. Because if I could understand most of it, then the average person should totally get it.

There was a very nice balance of suspense, dialogue and action. I wasn't drawn in throughout the whole film, but I was definatly on the edge of my seat a few times. The acting was excellent. Every character was believable at worst, and outstanding at best . I know Best Actor is a tight race this year, but Eric Bana probably should have received a nomination. His performance was a classic. It was low-key and occasionaly explosive. And it was one of those characters that evolves as the film goes along in a subtle and convincing way. While this movie didn't blow me away, it is a nice flick worth checking out.
