Pride & Prejudice - starring Keira Knightly - based on the novel by Jane Austin
Pride & Prejudice
I really enjoyed this film despite not being a big fan of Jane Austin. I had to suffer through the giggly girl scenes, but the rest of the movie makes up for it. The story isn't anything special, but the character development is superb. I felt at home with the characters and setting immediately. The acting is good, although not great. I really had no idea whether Keira Knightly could act, but apparently she can. I had to warm up to her a bit, but she does a fine job. The rest of the cast is fine. Donald Sutherland was a nice bonus. His role is small and limited, which is too bad considering what a great actor he is. I guess when you get old, that's all ya get in Hollywood.
This is a romance film, one of the few that I've really liked. I was moved and even though I knew how it would end, I still cried my eyes out at and felt great doing it. I left the theatre believing romantic love really does exist and that on it's own makes this a film worth seeing;- ) ~ Tracy 12/30/05
