Syriana - starring George Clooney - Kayvan Novak - Amr Waked - director Stephen Gaghan
Syriana
Going into this movie I was told it was confusing and so I should pay close attention. Well, I always pay close attention and I'm a fairly bright person so I had no worries. Boy was I wrong. I didn't know what was happening until maybe the last half hour of the movie. Oh sure, I could tell the good guys from the bad. But what about the actual story? Not a clue. It's one of those movies that has about six or seven different parts that eventually come together. What sucks, is they jump from one to another about five hundred times. It's impossible to follow.
It's rather unfortunate, too. The movie would have been pretty good if it made sense. Even despite the confusion, I found the characters belivable. None of the actors really stood out, but they all put in a solid performance. I enjoyed watching Kayvan Novak. I don't like Matt Damon, but I could tolerate him in this film. George Clooney was pretty solid. There was only one time in the movie where I thought about Dr. Ross. As a side note - I wish he's keep on the weight. He looks better with it on. The best way to watch this movie would be on DVD or VHS. That was you can rewind it half way through the film and start over so you have a chance at understanding the story. ~ Tracy 1/22/06
